Kick off for GNOME:Ayatana Project
Submitted by Webmaster on Monday January 03, 2011
This has been one of the guidelines in my life for quite some time… It started as a curiosity a long time ago with Notify OSD and evolved to full project in openSUSE. It is important to acknowledge at this point the motivation provided by the openSUSE GNOME Team from which I’ve been getting plenty of guidance and help, namely from Vincent Untz (vuntz) and Dominique Leuenberger (Dimstar).

Linux Mint vs Pinguy OS Review
Submitted by Webmaster on Monday January 03, 2011
Linux Mint is one of the oldest, and arguably one of the best-developed, spin-offs of Ubuntu. Over the last few weeks, I've been seeing more articles talk about another similar spin-off of Ubuntu called Pinguy OS, and I thought, "Another Ubuntu derivative? How many more does the world need?" But then I saw that these articles were placing Pinguy OS on the same level of Linux Mint. I figured this warranted a full-on comparison test.

Debian 6.0 Squeeze to be released with completely free Linux Kernel
Submitted by Webmaster on Friday December 17, 2010
The Debian project has been working in removing non-free firmware from the Linux kernel shipped with Debian for the past two release cycles. At the time of the releases of Debian 4.0 Etch and 5.0 Lenny, however, it was not yet possible to ship Linux kernels stripped of all non-free firmware bits.

Yahoo slashing products like Delicious, MyBlogLog
Submitted by Webmaster on Friday December 17, 2010
Layoffs apparently aren't the only thing Yahoo is doing to slim down size and cut expenses: A screenshot from a company Webcast began circulating Thursday that claims the company will be shutting down Yahoo Buzz, MyBlogLog, Delicious, AllTheWeb.com, Yahoo Picks, and AltaVista; as well as merging and consolidating a handful of other products like geolocation service Fire Eagle and event listing site Upcoming.

Apple sells over 300,000 iPad tablets on US launch day
Submitted by Webmaster on Monday April 05, 2010
We heard some pretty ridiculous estimates over the weekend, but these figures are straight out of Cupertino's mouth: over 300,000 iPads were sold on April 3rd. Specifically, that many were moved in the US as of midnight (PT, we're assuming) on Saturday, though this does include deliveries of pre-ordered units to customers, deliveries to channel partners and sales at Apple Retail Stores.

Dell Aero is AT&T`s second Android phone
Submitted by Webmaster on Monday March 22, 2010
Looks like Dell's finally entering the modern US smartphone market with a renamed Mini 3 called the Aero for AT&T. There's some serious Android UI skinning going on here -- it looks like a riff on what we've seen on the Streak / Mini 5 -- but that's all we know specs-wise at the moment. To be honest, we're somewhat concerned that this custom UI skin will be built on top of Android 1.5
